VisionC: Helping Kids for a Brighter, Better Future
VisionC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to empowering Cameroonian youth through basketball. By teaching life skills like teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and problem-solving, VisionC nurtures the leaders of tomorrow while inspiring a generation to envision and build a brighter future.
Our Programs
VisionC searches for the most passionate basketball players aged 13-17 and brings them together by organizing an annual 5-day overnight basketball camp for 100 kids in Douala, Cameroon each summer. VisionC also hosts an under-20 basketball tournament preceding the camp, as well as a 1-day clinic for all of the camp’s coaches to elevate the camp and year-round local programing alike. Through partnerships, sponsorships, and fundraising, we aim to provide educational opportunities, scholarships, and employment opportunities for the camp’s youth, and are working towards offering year-round jobs for local staff to cement the VisionC mission in the community. VisionC’s programs help illuminate to its campers the various ways we can build a better world while instilling the belief that we can do it, together.
For the Community
VisionC goes beyond basketball. Our programs foster social interaction and community building, contributing to the development of critical local infrastructure. The camp becomes a hub where kids can form friendships, develop a sense of belonging, and feel part of a supportive community that lasts far beyond the camp.
For the Sport
Sports play a critical role in personal development, and at VisionC, basketball is more than a game—it’s a tool for empowerment and personal growth. Kids learn to set goals, work hard, and navigate success and failure, gaining essential skills that will benefit them in all areas of life.
Our VisionC
Founded by Steve Tchiengang, who grew up in Douala before moving to the U.S. to pursue basketball, VisionC understands the unique challenges faced by Cameroonian youth. Our mission is to show them that people believe in their potential and to offer them a path filled with opportunity. Over the past three years, we’ve made strides toward this goal, and we have much more in store for the future.
